Breaking Media, a network of websites, e-newsletters, events, and social media channels for influential, affluent business communities, announced today that it is working with publisher solutions provider The YGS Group (YGS) to handle accolade licensing, reprints, and permissions of its content.
The partnership ensures that anyone interested in reusing articles, lists, accolades, and other content from Breaking Media’s brands, which include Fashionista, Above the Law, Dealbreaker, MedCityNews, Breaking Defense, as well as two archived sites, Breaking Energy and Breaking Gov, will be able to quickly identify and properly license that content.
“We are excited to work with YGS to scale our accolade licensing, reprints, and permissions activity,” says John Lerner, CEO of Breaking Media. “We know that readers already pay close attention to lists like Editor’s Top Beauty Picks and Editor’s Must Haves from Fashionista, and the Top 50 Law School Rankings from Above the Law. Working with YGS will make it easier for organizations to strengthen trust in their brands through targeted reuse of the independent, credible coverage offered by Breaking Media.”
“YGS sees a great deal of untapped potential for Breaking Media in the licensing and permissions space,” says Charles Calta, Vice President of Sales for YGS. “The editorial teams for the five active brands are already well-respected for the deep, informed coverage they provide of the fashion, legal, financial, medical, and defense markets, respectively. Our role is to maximize Breaking Media’s revenue for this area of their business, by proactively making it easier for organizations in those verticals to leverage any earned media coverage by Breaking Media titles to grow their own businesses.”
The deal was facilitated by content licensing specialist MEI Global, LLC (MEIG), which helps publishers monetize their digital assets by negotiating and growing third party licensing partnerships. “We’re honored to represent Breaking Media’s strong brand portfolio and pleased to pair them with YGS, who we feel is an excellent partner in the accolade licensing, reprints, and permissions vendor family,” says Chris Broekhoff, MEIG’s president. “A number of discussions and negotiations for complementary redistribution deals are also underway, and we’re excited to help Breaking Media expand their licensing landscape.”
